What rhymes with orange?

November 3, 2011

I’m linking up with Abbie over at Five Days, Five Ways this week for the Five Things Thursday link party.  This week’s theme is “My Favorite Color”.  If you didn’t guess by the title, mine is:

My husband is a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee.  He actually attended at the same time as Peyton Manning, and he has an ultra-funny story about meeting him in a class and being very starstruck.  This year hasn’t been so great for the VOLS, but we wear our orange proudly still.

Let's Go, Vols!

Florida navel oranges.   One of the things I miss most about our short tenure there.  Way, way better than California oranges, but hard to get in the Midwest.  I could eat 3 a day.

I love orange in home decorating, and have a few splashes of it throughout the house.  It goes well with the teal blue and brown theme in our living room, especially.  I think the way orange is used in this room is fantastic:

From Better Homes and Gardens

One of our favorite movies here at the Byrd house is Finding Nemo.  We *heart* that little orange clownfish and his dad.  (Although everyone knows the real star is Dorie).  I am actually quite proficient in whale, as well.  To the top of Mount Wanna Hock-a-loogie!

Sweet potatoes.  Boil ’em, mash ’em, put them in a stew.  We eat them regularly around here, and our favorite way is either mashed with butter and salt, or sweet potato “fries”.

Sprinkle with seasoning and bake

What is your favorite color?
